About The Adventure
Ramsej Fort is one of the greatest symbols of Maratha courage and resistance. During the historic Siege of Ramsej (1682-1688), under the reign of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, a small band of Maratha Mavalas (Soldiers) held off Aurangzeb's mighty Mughal army for nearly six years. Their extraordinary resilience, military strategy and unwavering determination transformed Ramsej into one of the finest examples of fort defence in Indian military history. According to local tradition, the fort is named after Lord Rama, who is said to have rested here during his exile, with a cave temple on the fort preserving this enduring legend.
